Towards the northeast! Ekebacken / Oakhill Beside Hallesnipen, Predikstolen & Ovandalen
A Car Cruise
A visit to the mountain may be a pleasant car drive. The surrounding nature is beautiful along the route. In the meantime it's also possible to look through the window after the moose.
Ekebacken (Oakhill) can be a good stop for a car cruise. Here you can stretch out the legs and breathe in some fresh air.
This place is very accessible because the short distances. The cultural landscape is small, but jolly good.
Summer days is it a nice little spot to go and stroll on.
Oakhill has a lovely natural setting where the little red wooden house easily end up in your view. It is said that the croft have been in use from the 1530s and until the 1940s. The dwelling had diverse purposes during the era. Some facts and key figures for the place can be found on the information board, next to the road barrier.
Once there in Vargön: road signs shows the way up to Halleberg. After about 4.9 km on the mountain is the road sign to Oakhill. It's shortly after a very sharp left turn.
Here are almost all types of shoes absolutely right. The gravel road to the cottage is wide and the surface is smooth and steady.
Families must of course be aware of the height of fall: away at the viewpoint. Although it is located just beyond the croft.
The road barrier is probably the only obstacle for a visit to Oakhill in a wheelchair.
There is no distance to speak of around Oakhill. The short gravel road to the cottage is almost dead straight and follow the pastures.
Distance to the cottage is approximately 180 m.
Difference In Altitude
The only height difference that is worth mentioning is the viewpoint.
Altitude over Vänern is about 70 m.
The area around Oakhill consists mainly of small pastures and meadows. During the summer is the land kept open by grazing cattle.
A nice walking path runs from Oakhill away to Skytteklev.
The mountain's cultural history preserves among other via Västra Tunhems Hembygdsförening.
The viewpoint is found just beyond the cottage against the scree. The rock near the edge is nicely situated. Here stretches a wide field of view over Vänern. The contour along Vänersnäs create a depth in what you see. Even Kinnekulle is clearly visible from this point (cloud-free days).
Just beyond the cottage is a wooden bench that is ideal for a coffee break.
Near the ledge at the viewing point is a great place to sit on.
